$3.00

This is what $3.00 looks like.

The dress was .99 cents.
The belt was $1.95.

True.
I didn't include the shoes in the total cost of the outfit.
That would make it $25, total.
You got me.

Head to your local thrift store, folks.
Do some good searching.
There are treasures to be found!

$26.50

I don't post outfit pictures much. I don't consider myself to be a leader in fashion or really that great at picking up on current trends. But one thing I love to do is find deals.

This entire outfit cost me $26.50.
The shirt was $2.00.
The skirt was $2.00
The belt was .50 cents.
The shoes were the only thing not purchased at a thrift store, and they were $22 from Target.
I didn't include it in the total price, but I even thrifted the bangle for .50 cents.

Thrifting is glorious.
It's a challenge. It's cheap. And it's just plain fun to see what you can find.

Hoo-rah for hobbies. :)

p.s. My super talented hubby wanted me to let you know, he took the picture.
Haha. We're so pro-fesh.

Swimsuit Season is Coooooming!

It's the end of April.
This means a few things.
The weather in California is gorgeous.
Garrett and I have been married for three years on the 26th!
MB is very pregnant and due in 9 days!
Lil' Sis Sarah isn't far behind and due in 5 weeks!
I'm heading home to Virginia on May 24th!
Annnnnnd.....
Summer is coming!

With summer comes sun, lazy days, family time, and...of course...swimwear.
Yahtzee.

It wasn't long ago that I started thinking about what exactly I was going to wear to the beach this summer.
I just don't think I'm a bikini girl.
I never feel comfortable in them.
I'm always afraid I'm exposing something I shouldn't be.
And how do you know those things are going to stay on??!?!
You get hit by one good wave and...jeepers.

So I've been peeking around some websites and thought I'd share some of my favs.

J.Crew

Ralph Lauren

Tommy Hilfiger

Target

Mod Cloth

This last swimsuit from Mod Cloth is actually an exact replica of a swimsuit I received from my friend Robin today! We are both thrilled by thrifting and she found a vintage swimsuit that is identical to the black and white polka dot swimsuit above. It looks like it's never been worn and it was much cheaper than Mod Cloth's price of $89. She picked it up for $4. Awesome. It's good to have people lookin' out for ya. :)

Lookin' forward to beach time with my family!

Browsing Banana

Sometimes I spend, probably too much time, browsing my favorite clothing websites. One of those websites is Banana Republic. Though usually out of my price range (hooray for clearance racks!), it's still fun to dream, right? Here are some of my favorite looks from the current styles.

I guess what I can tell from looking at each of these pieces is that I'm digging the ruffles, the belts, the cardigans, and the tucked in look. It's frustrating to have caviar tastes on an anchovy budget.  I'm constantly looking at clothing, jewelry, and furniture and thinking, "I wonder if I could make that". I've recently been hoping to learn how to sew. Then maybe some of these styles would only be a little bit of fabric and a sewing machine away. :)

Mismatched Skiing

I've always been that person.

Winter time came around, and the Harrisons were just never prepared.

We were the kids without the snow boots. We wrapped plastic bags around our socked toes and then stuffed our feet into our regular tennis shoes. It worked ok, but boy, it wasn't very stylish. (I wish I had a picture of us as kids to upload here)

Or the snow pants. Those things have always been hideous. Hand me downs or a pair picked up at the local Goodwill store. Outdated and ugly.

Gloves, Hats, Jackets...all a mismatch. Whatever you could find you threw together.

And skiis? Yeah right. Never owned a pair of those. Looked at a couple pairs one time with Dad at the Gift and Thrift, but decided maybe skiis from the 70's were a tad outdated and a little unreliable.

It's a weird thing to be on a ski hill and feel self-conscious. No one can see an inch of your skin. And yet, you feel like you're sticking out like a sore thumb. You definitely don't look like you belong there. Just a weekend warrior.

It may sound silly, and slightly materialistic...but even in snow gear I still want to MATCH! Is it the girl in me? Possibly.

Fast forward to the present.

So there's a Christmas ski trip coming up in about a month for Garrett and I. Now Garrett...he's the gear guy. He's got the outfit all together. He always looks like such a pro out there. And this year...I'll be standing next to him tall and proud!

We just got a gently used pair of skiis for me off of ebay, and they have purple flowers on them! I have a basic black ski jacket. I'm looking for a used pair of grey (gotta color coordinate) ski pants that fit (not too short, not too baggy...). And I'll probably compliment it with a purple scarf/hat and some nice goggles. Notice, I'm still pretty ok with the used idea, as long as it matches!

Friends, I'm pumped.
